Police determined that the register found on Sunday was from the Redwood Inn, 341 Naugatuck Ave., said Milford Officer Joseph Dempsey.
An extensive investigation, which included a K-9 track, led to the apprehension Nicholas Melita, 26, of Milford and Danielle Gaetano, 33, of Stamford, for allegedly entering the Redwood Inn after hours and stealing the cash register, Dempsey said.
Further investigation showed that Gaetano had an active warrant for her arrest for failing to appear in court on Sept. 6, stemming from a motor vehicle arrest by state police on August 2.
Melita was also arrested for allegedly entering Wheel’s gas station, 313 Naugatuck Ave., on Oct. 2, and demanding money from the register, Dempsey said.
Melita was charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, criminal mischief and robbery.
He is being held on $15,000 bond.
Gaetano was charged with failure to appear, burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief.
She was being held on $2,500 bond.
